1. Measures to Support Accessibility
To ensure an inclusive, accessible experience across all lake dashboards and calculators, WaterLakeLevel implements the following technical measures:
- Color Contrast Compliance: Text contrast reaches at least 4.5:1 against surfaces in both Light and Dark themes. UI elements and buttons reach at least 3:1 contrast.
- Multi-Factor Status Indicators: Boating safety statuses and gauge alerts never rely on color alone; every indicator combines an explicit text label and an icon.
- Keyboard Operability: All navigation menus, search bars, theme toggles, and form controls are fully navigable via standard keyboard tab order with visible focus indicators.
- Semantic HTML5 Structure: Proper heading hierarchies (H1 to H4), landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), and ARIA attributes for dynamic components.
- Mobile & Zoom Support: Fully responsive layouts supporting up to 200% browser zoom without horizontal page scrolling or content clipping.
- Server-Side HTML Rendering: Core water levels, percentiles, and weather details are delivered directly in server HTML, ensuring screen readers access data immediately without client script delays.
