Emergency Situations

In any flood, boating, medical, or weather-related emergency, call 911 immediately. Never use WaterLakeLevel or any third-party online service for emergency decision-making or life-safety determinations.

1. Information Only — No Professional Advice

All content, data, water-level observations, forecasts, tools, and calculators provided on WaterLakeLevel are published strictly for general recreational, educational, and informational purposes.

Nothing on this website constitutes professional maritime safety advice, marine navigation advice, structural or civil engineering advice, hydrological consulting, flood insurance certification, real estate appraisal, legal counsel, or financial planning advice. You assume full personal responsibility for how you interpret and act upon any information found on this platform.

2. Data Sources & Accuracy Limitations

Water-level readings and streamflow statistics displayed on this site originate from third-party government monitoring networks, including the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

  • Transmission Delays: Gauge telemetry can experience transmission latency, satellite transmission blackouts, or sensor malfunctions. Observations are not instantaneous real-time feeds.
  • Provisional Status: Most current-day hydrologic readings are provisional and subject to subsequent manual agency audit, recalibration, or retraction.
  • Vertical Datum Shifts: Elevations may be referenced to legacy NGVD29, modern NAVD88, or local dam datums. Failing to verify the datum can produce measurement errors of 1 to 2 feet or more.

3. Forecasts & Boating Go / No-Go Guidance

All hourly wind speeds, gusts, and precipitation forecasts originate from automated numerical weather prediction models operated by the National Weather Service (NWS). Weather forecasts are predictive estimates that can shift suddenly due to local topography, thermal instability, or microburst activity.

The "Go", "Caution", or "No-Go" status generated by our Boating Checker is a general guideline synthesized from our own internal recreational rule set (v1.0). It is NOT an official maritime safety rating, regulatory navigation order, or guarantee of calm water. You are solely responsible for assessing your vessel's seaworthiness, crew competence, safety equipment, and local lake conditions.

4. Tools & Calculators Are Estimates Only

Our calculators (including the Dock and Boat Ramp Clearance Calculator and the Lake Level Risk Report) generate mathematical estimates based on user inputs and historical daily averages.

These calculators do not replace an on-site property boundary survey, a licensed marine contractor inspection, or a FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). Real-world water clearance fluctuates with boat wake, underwater sediment deposition, propeller squat, and atmospheric pressure seiche.

5. Verification with Official Agencies Before Acting

Before launching watercraft, operating docks, or purchasing lakefront real estate, you must independently verify conditions with official primary sources:

6. No Government Affiliation & Trademark Notice

WaterLakeLevel is a private, independent website. We have no affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or official partnership with the USGS, NOAA, the National Weather Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Tennessee Valley Authority, or any state lake operator.
